My Approach

Are you considering booking in with me? My approach to family photography is a little different, it’s important to me that my clients love the experience as much as the photographs.

Really honest photographs don’t happen without a healthy dose of trust.  During your session, you’ll need to relax and trust that I know how to capture you all in a way you’ll love.  So take some time to sort out in your head if I’m the right photographer for you and your family. Read my ‘Who am I’ and Information pages.  Look at my photographs, get a feel for the style, the colours, the energy.  Review my pricing to make sure you’re comfortable with the investment involved.  Phone or email me, ask me all the questions – you’re never a bother and there are no obligations!

When you decide you want to go ahead I follow three simple steps to ensure the session is super fun and you get beautiful photographs that you will love forever.

Step 1.  Get to know each other.

Once you’re booked in we’ll get together for a planning session.   Ideally, this is face to face but we can also do this on the phone or via video call.  We’ll talk about what to wear, when and where it’s best to shoot and what your priority shots are.  If you want to include your pets, if you’d like photographs in more than one place and what kind of budget you’re working with.  If you live outside of Auckland we can set up a video call or schedule in additional time to talk right before your photo shoot.

Step 2.  Have your photo taken.

It’ll probably feel really weird at first but don’t worry I’m fully prepared to deal with all levels of awkwardness.  Your family photographs should truly reflect who you are as a family so I’ll direct you only as necessary.  I’ll portion time for family and individual portraits, sibling portraits and photos of your pets.  Most of all I’ll be capturing the moments in between as you interact as a family.

Step 3.  Gallery Unveiling.

By far the most exciting step.  You’ll get a link and a password to your very own photo gallery.  Take some time over coffee with your loved ones to linger on every image until you know exactly how you want to display them.  Choose some prints or a book and put your order through the easy shopping cart system.  If you’re having trouble deciding what to choose, invite me to join you for some design advice.  You can share your gallery around as much as you like, but keep in mind anyone visiting your gallery can also order prints and products directly from it.

All my sessions include a set of gorgeous photos optimised for sharing on social media.
